Beginning of the Fall Quarter, walk into class, do the introduction routine.....oops a student raises her hand. I ask her what she needs. She announces to the whole class of 25 students.......Mr. G, my GRANDMOTHER HAD YOU IN CLASS when she working on her degree at the university.
I went home and promptly grabbed a shot of scotch. How life has its moments.

The Starting Line
It is my first blog. Wow, what a change from pencil and paper. Have gone through a transformation from being a university department coordinator to a retired part-time professor. No more meetings, no more decisions to make, no more fighting the endless political battles in a university governance.
After 5+ years into retirement, I started observing students and university personnel walking past me like I was non-existent. What a strange feeling in a place where I worked for 35+ years.
Being retired has created many emotional adjustments. Has this happened to anyone else in the field?
